Foods That Burns Fat

                                                        Foods That Burn Fat
Burn The Fat, Feed The Muscle (BFFM)

1. Oatmeal
If I could only choose one source of complex, starchy carbohydrates for a fat loss program, this would be it! Oatmeal is the one carbohydrate food that virtually 100% of all bodybuilders and fitness models eat on a daily basis. What makes it so great? Well, although it’s a starchy carbohydrate, oatmeal has a nice balance between carbs, protein and good fat. A half a cup contains 3 grams of fat, 27 grams of carbs and 5 grams of protein. The low glycemic index, combined with the presence of protein and fat makes oatmeal a very slowly released carb – exactly what you’re looking for when you want to get lean.
Make sure you choose the all-natural oats; either old-fashioned oats (such as Quaker) or the quick oats. Stay away from the sweetened and or flavoured oatmeal packets. Oatmeal is delicious with natural (sugar free) applesauce and cinnamon. Or, try some crushed walnuts or flax seeds in your morning oats, which will give your “porridge” a nice crunchy texture while adding those desirable “good fats” we all need. For a complete meal, try a couple scoops of Vanilla Praline flavoured protein powder in your oatmeal. If you get tired of oatmeal, there are plenty of other cooked whole grain cereals in the “oatmeal family.” Look in your local health food store (or a gourmet supermarket) for barley, wheat, titricale, rye, oat bran and flax cereals (or a multi grain combination of the above).

2. Yams (and sweet potatoes)
Right behind oatmeal, yams (and sweet potatoes) are probably my second favourite starchy carbohydrate. Flavorful, all-natural, low in calories, and packed with nutrients and antioxidants like beta-carotene, it’s no wonder yams are a favourite carbohydrate among bodybuilders, fitness competitors and health-seekers alike. According to Brian Rowley, science editor for FLEX magazine, “Bodybuilders use yams when cutting body fat because they are low on the glycemic index. Waxy white
potatoes (boilers) are high on the glycemic index, so they make an excellent post workout meal, but nothing compares with a yam the rest of the time.”
Although the glycemic index is a secondary factor when making carb choices on the BFFM program, if you’re carb sensitive or if you’re on a very strict diet (like a contest diet), then the glycemic index should be given more weight in your choices. Yams are one of the best. Sweet potatoes are not exactly the same thing as yams (they’re slightly higher on the glycemic index), but they’re otherwise similar, which also makes them good choices for fat burning diets. You can identify a yam by its darker orange colour, pointier ends and unusual sizes/shapes. Combine a yam with a green veggie, a chicken breast, lean red meat or fish, and you’ve got yourself a perfect fat-burning, muscle building, metabolism boosting meal.

3. Potatoes (white or red)
Potatoes have earned an undeserved reputation as a food to avoid on a fat loss program. But think about it; Potatoes meet every criteria of a great carbohydrate: potatoes are a complex carb. They are all-natural. They contain fibre, vitamins and minerals. They are filling. They are low in calories. So why do people avoid them? One reason is because they confuse a dry potato with a loaded potato. Smother a potato with butter, sour cream and bacon bits and then you’ve got yourself a fattening, calorie-dense ensemble. Eat it dry or top it with Butter sprinkles, salsa or your favourite low fat, low calorie topping and you can’t go wrong.
Another reason people might avoid the potato is because they are using the glycemic index as their primary gauge for choosing carbohydrates. Potatoes are high on the glycemic index, which means they are absorbed as blood sugar very rapidly. What most people don’t realise however, is that when you eat your potato as a whole meal with your favourite lean protein, the glycemic index of the entire meal is much lower. Most people also don’t realise that some white potatoes are higher in the GI than others. Baking potatoes are higher in amylose, a slow releasing starch, so the glycemic index is lower. Russet potatoes are also moderate on the GI. Waxy potatoes or boilers are high GI foods. If you’re extremely carb sensitive or hypoglycemic, then you might want to eat more yams than white potatoes, but generally speaking, white potatoes make a superb addition to almost any fat burning diet. I personally eat white potatoes right up until the day of a bodybuilding contest and I have no difficulty reaching 3-4% body fat.

4. Brown Rice
Brown rice is another staple food of bodybuilders and you often see the “muscled ones” chowing down platefuls of rice, both in season and out of season (in smaller quantities during the “cutting-up” season). Prior to contests, bodybuilders sometimes reduce the amount of rice (starchy carbs) and add in more green veggies (fibrous carbs), but rice is a solid year round staple, as long as you keep your calories in check. Obviously, this means avoiding fried rice or other rice dishes that have added fat and calories. Steamed or boiled rice is the way to go.
Of the many types of rice, slow-cooked brown rice or basmati rice are your number one choices. Instant (pre-cooked) rice is fine when you’re in a crunch for time, but the instant rice digests much more quickly and is processed in the body more like a simple carbohydrate. The same goes for white rice, especially the sweet variety that’s usually served in Chinese and Asian restaurants (including sushi rolls). White rice is the processed version of brown rice. Although it’s still technically a starchy complex carbohydrate, the white rice burns faster and has been stripped of much of its nutritional value. When you’re on a very strict fat loss diet, stick with the slow-cooking brown rice for best results.

5. 100% whole wheat and whole grain products
The “baseline diet” can and should contain a wide variety of bread products with one condition: They must be made from 100% whole grains (and the label must say, “100% whole wheat” or “100% whole grain” as the first ingredient). White bread and anything made out of white flour is not allowed in any quantity on this program (except the occasional planned “cheat meal”). If you’re particularly carb-sensitive, then bread – even the whole wheat variety – is one of the first things to go.
A small handful of people – usually one in 200, depending on what source you listen to – have sensitivity to the gluten in the wheat. Gluten is a protein found in wheat products and, much like lactose intolerance from dairy products, gluten intolerance can cause digestive difficulties and bloating in certain individuals. Most competitive bodybuilders drop out all the pasta and bread products for the 12-16 week dieting period before a contest, then usually put them back in for off-season maintenance. On very strict fat loss diets, wheat and bread products are usually eliminated completely. Generally speaking, however, 100% whole wheat and other whole grains are perfectly acceptable additions to a healthy diet for long term body composition control, it just depends on how “strict” you want or need to be with your nutrition.
6. Green fibrous vegetables (broccoli, green beans, asparagus, lettuce, etc)
Fibrous carbs are your number one choice for fat burning carbohydrates. Green vegetables, also known as fibrous carbs, hardly contain any calories (they have a low calorie density). It’s virtually impossible to overeat green vegetables. Eat them liberally and eat more of them late in the day. A diet of green vegetables combined with lean proteins is one of the best methods of getting lean as quickly as possible.

7. Fresh Fruit
Whole fruits are a fantastic, healthy food suitable for nearly any fat loss program. Although there are some “guru’s” in the bodybuilding industry who claim, “fruit is fattening,” this statement is somewhat misleading. It’s true that a diet of mostly complex carbohydrate will give you better results than a diet of mostly simple carbohydrates, but that’s not the same thing as saying “fruit is fattening.” Although fruits are simple carbohydrates, they are natural simple carbohydrates. Most fruits are low in calories, low in carbohydrate grams (compared to starches) and high in fibre.
Some fruits such as raisins are extremely calorie dense and best avoided when you’re on a strict fat loss program and your calorie allotment is small. Fruits like apples, peaches, grapefruits, and oranges, at only 60-80 calories apiece (or less), are a great addition to almost any nutritional plan. Just make sure the majority of your carbohydrates are of the complex type. An all-fruit or mostly fruit diet won’t be as effective for fat loss as one that is mostly green fibrous carbohydrates with lean protein.

8. Skim milk & nonfat dairy products
“Dairy products” cover an entire category of foods including milk, cheese, yogurt, sugar free frozen yogurt, and cottage cheese. To make it on the BFFM “approved” list, a dairy product must be labelled “fat-free,” “skim,” or 1% low fat. Whole milk dairy products are not allowed, as they are high in fat. Even 2% low fat milk is still 37.5% fat by calories.
Dairy products are a “combination food” – they contain carbohydrates and proteins. Because the protein found in dairy products is high quality, complete protein, a high protein dairy product can count as an exchange for a protein food. For example, you could have non-fat cottage cheese as a protein instead of a serving of lean meat. Non-fat cheese can also boost the protein content of a meal. Yogurt tends to have
less protein than cottage cheese, so a single container of yogurt wouldn’t count as a full protein serving. In fact, yogurt would count more as a simple carbohydrate exchange than a protein (although, you could mix in a scoop of protein powder into your yogurt to make it “high-protein yogurt).

9. Chicken Breast (and Turkey Breast)
Chicken and turkey are probably the number one most popular protein sources among bodybuilders and fat loss seekers. Remove the skin and get the light meat found in the breasts. The thighs are higher in fat and calories. Naturally, your poultry should be broiled, grilled, or roasted and not fried.
Also, we’re talking about the real bird here, not the sliced lunch meat you find at deli’s or pre-packed in supermarkets. Lunch meats are processed proteins. Some nutritionists call them “fabricated foods” because they are made from a mix and poured into a mold before being cooked and wrapped. While these are acceptable occasionally, don’t make them a staple in your regular daily diet. Lunch meats are loaded with sodium, preservatives, binders, fillers and other nasty chemicals that you don’t want floating around in your body!

10. Egg whites
The name of the game in fat-burning, muscle-building nutrition is to eat a lean protein with every meal. With zero fat, egg whites are as lean as lean proteins get. Egg whites are right up there with chicken breasts as one of the top three lean proteins of choice for losing fat and gaining muscle. Eggs are a super-high quality protein. The problem with whole eggs is the high fat and calorie content. Fortunately, 100% of the fat is in the yolk, while the protein is split evenly between the yolk and the white. This doesn’t mean you have to throw out all your yolks, but it does mean you should limit your yolks. I’d recommend one yolk for every six whites you eat. Just crack them open, and separate the yolk from the white using the edge of the shell. Or, even easier, simply use “Egg Beaters” or another packaged egg white product. There must be hundreds of ways to make eggs, so use your imagination: Omelets, fritters, scrambled, fried (in nonstick spray), over easy, sunny side up, hard-boiled or any other way you like them, use egg whites liberally!

11. Fish and shellfish
Many people complain about the lack of variety in a bodybuilding-style fat-burning diet, which typically has you eating egg whites, tuna and chicken day in, day out.
What most people don’t eat enough of is fish and seafood. By using different types of fish and shellfish as protein sources, you can add an incredible amount of variety a well as getting those valuable good fats. Here is just a partial list of fish to consider: salmon, tuna, haddock, flounder, mackerel, trout, snapper, sea bass, swordfish, mahi mahi, perch, orange roughy, sole, Halibut, herring cod and catfish.
As with other meats, eat your fish baked, grilled or broiled and avoid fatty, high calorie sauces and butter. Most fish are very low in fat and high in protein. Some fish, such as salmon, mackerel, sardines, herring and trout, are high in fat. However, because fish is so high in Omega 3 fatty acids, these fish can and should be used liberally. Shellfish have many of the benefits that fish have and it can add some variety to your diet if you’re getting bored of egg whites and chicken. This category includes shrimp, crab, lobster, mussels, etc. By the way, when you’re eating in restaurants, fish is a great choice, as long as you make sure there are no hidden bad fats or extra calories.

12. Lean red meat
Bodybuilders are quite famous for loving their red meat. Many bodybuilders believe that red meat helps muscle growth, and there may be much truth in that statement. Red meat is high in protein, B-12, iron and creatine. The problem with most cuts of red meat is the high fat content. However, not all cuts of red meat are the same. It’s a mistake to label the entire red meat category as a no-no because of high fat content. If you carefully choose the leanest cuts possible and keep your portion sizes small, red meat can be a great addition to a fat burning program. For example, a 6 oz serving of lean, trimmed top round steak has only 9 grams of fat, while a 6 oz of untrimmed porterhouse has 37 grams of fat (and the 18 oz porterhouse you’re often served in a steak house has over 100 grams of fat!)

Transformation Part 2

Whenever i start to write about my transformation, I get this instant feeling to either hear something motivational on the background or have something positive playing in my mind. I was motivated every bit of my struggle and training. It is the only thing along with change that has been constant.

Six months and counting i saw myself at a place i never imagined before. No one ever believed that i could be this way. No one ever thought of me being skinny or healthy or a beast. It was me who made everybody BELIEVE. It was me who made everybody REALISE. It was me who told everyone that it is POSSIBLE.

At this time of my life my mind was stronger than ever before. The knowledge i have was more than what i had. After six months things got a little more advanced. I had already started to read about supplements and whey proteins. Every obstacle i had also had a good side of facing it. Supplements were not cheap. Most of the savings wen in my food. The Good part here is how many times have u been happy on spending on your self, for a healthy purpose, I had to work my ass off for that money.
At this time my workout my sets my reps and my weights changed.
Workout was more intense than yesterday and every new day pain was more and more. What i was witnessing was not just a change but i was more confident in everything i did, I became stronger and stronger. At this time i had given up on probably all the social activities that i indulged my self into.

I was always by my self when it came to working out. Came across a few guys at the gym who i used to spot with but somehow i moved ahead cause i realised that many people in the gym have lack of focus.
There are two ways how u see someone. One is you are so happy about someone being so good with something that you express. The other is same you express but you show some kind of jealousy.
Many people have spent yrs in the gym to be lean and muscular but results have never seen as it was showing on me. Lack of diet lack of focus lack of knowledge lack of discipline lack of motivation lack of determination, were the main factors i noticed of most of the people in the gym.

By this time i was very well known in the gym amongst my trainers around and the people who came regularly. One day of my training i come across a very old and close friend in the gym. His name is Sarosh Q. Off course seeing me and from where I've come he was very impressed of how i changed myself. He too had quite a similar story as mine and started from scratch. The purpose of involving him in my blog is that he was a very important person involved in the struggle of my transformation.

I obviously knew him since i was fat, but seeing me in the gym like that when he has just started his 1st day assessment was like a excitement for him.
As time passed and we kept meeting everyday in the gym, we started working out together as a team.
Champions always come in pairs of two - Arnold Schwarzenegger
Sarosh was not only my spotter but my mental strength. He was the reason i had those extra 4 reps. Every time i was not sure of the weights i could do, Sarosh pushed me the number and made sure i did it.
He was focused and he was there with his mind. Together we were one powerful beast machine in the gym. Within a month or two of training with Sarosh, we realised our goals were same and our thoughts did not clash for even a second during training. There were times when I would say something and Sarosh would be thinking about it and vice verse. It was very important for me to connect with Sarosh when it came to training because  it was all about the energy he gives me and i pass back to him.
What was good about Sarosh was he was very well connected to people who have made a difference in their lives. He always kept himself motivated with all the sources of knowledge he could get. Compromising on time lines as he was doing his MBA was a task he did it beautifully. When two people of the same goal express dedication, the feeling is always to another level. December was near and so was Goa coming soon. I exactly knew what was on my mind and there was no better help support and lift that anybody but Sarosh could give me.

EAT CLEAN, TRAIN DIRTY

We often followed this line 'EAT CLEAN, TRAIN DIRTY'. Training dirty does not mean you whack out. This gave rise to another  quote which had much more meaning than this one. TRAIN SMART, NOT HARD.
Sarosh and me followed simple principles, Intense dieting, Satisfactory workouts and kept ourselves motivating till the last rep.

The Motivation

There a lot of things that we come thru in our day to day life that motivate us. What motivated me is a list of things i have been following listening and doing. It is very important to see and read motivational articles and videos. Reading always got boring, i liked more of visuals. These videos helped me get where I am. Being motivated every min of your life is the most important parameter of bodybuilding.

I seen this movie at least 50 times till now. It is the most motivating movie of all times.

Transformation Part 1

1ST WEEK

Its the beginning of the most challenging time of my life. I am skinny with no flesh and i have just started to go to the gym, and all i have is enough support and knowledge to make me enter the gym. I made sure I went to the gym, did random workouts, asked the stupidest questions. Within the span of a month i was quite regular, like 6 days of the week. I realised i had even started a diet which was heavy in protein and carbs. All this research was done by me and only me using the most powerful medium the Internet followed by google. At the end of the first month i had like a vision, a goal that i wanted to achieve. With the help of google i came across Scott Herman. Scott Herman is an American fitness model. I happened to find him on google and later when i searched him on you tube i got a list of all his training regimes. Maximum amount of knowledge is gained when your motivation and determination level is at its peak. I was on it, so i downloaded each and every video of his and also made sure i had them on my phone. I must have seen his video of the particular workout I'm doing more than 10 times in the day, so if i ever went wrong in doing something in the gym, it would be lack of focus. I am very lucky for all the amenities i have had and happy to make the most of it. I am going to share the link to all the series of Scott Herman fitness videos, and I'm sure it would help as it helped me.

Scott Herman Fitness

I was beneficial in many ways with whatever i had with me. Talking about my gym, it was 24hrs. So i could go to the gym at any given time. When i initially started, I used to go to the gym quite late at night. When i say late i meant like 2 am or so. The gym would be isolated with me and just another trainer, so basically having personal attention. Its true when people say "When you work hard for something, everything falls your way". Everything did, every single thing.

4TH WEEK

For about Six months I followed Scott Herman, and the best part is I don't remember one day i skipped gym, Its like being an extremist, but for yourself, why not?
I am going to write my diet down at the end of this post. So I have been very religious about going to the gym, but that's not it. Seeing my past I'm sure by now its evident that i was not disciplined in any of my habits.
I started smoking at a very early age, followed by alcohol. From all my friends it was only me who was like always a smoker and drinker, none of my friends had any bad habits. To give up smoking was a task, i wondered how would i ever do without it. I used to smoke in this duration of 6 months. That had a principle involved 2hrs before gym i just never smoked. I also made sure i tried cutting down smoking after gym. I was an alcoholic, like a fish in the sea of Jack Danial's. These six months i cut down alcohol in such a way that i made sure i consumed only on occasions like best friends birthday. In six months maximum 3 times i must have gone out to party and drink.
Its a stupid mental block that I could not party without alcohol i had, hence i kept my self away from any place beyond the gym. Being out and stuff would urge me on eating or drinking something, so in order to avoid those urges i did like completely disappear from my social life. Its one of the reasons i call myself an extremist. This does not mean i did not need anyone else or anything else, it just simply proves i was being very determined of the change and i was very motivated towards it, and all i expected everyone to do is support than just drift away. May be i was wrong in my thoughts, but i know exactly that everything will be fine in the end. Indeed my friends were the biggest support in each way to me.

2 MONTHS COUNTING

2 MONTHS AND 2 WEEKS COUNTING

In the gym i was like a newbie. I kept wondering what people would think of me when i am doing just 10 pounds of bench press. Initially it worried me but i knew i ain't stopping. End of the first month i got over that feeling as my presence in the gym became more prominent than the  people i worried about. This is one way i used my mind to always boost my confidence. It took me approximately 2 to 3 months to understand the meaning of being focused, disciplined and healthy. You cant be Arnold in one night. What i mean by this is I started weightlifting from 7.5 pounds. Imagine 2hrs in the gym and for one entire month i could not lift more than 12 pounds. Off course i was bored, I didn't see results nothing. That is the time you fight it out. Not a single day i missed in that one month, did not more than 12 pounds, 5 variations, 4 sets each, 18:25:15:12 reps each set. THAT CALLED A FIGHT.

3 MONTHS AND 3 WEEKS COUNTING.

5 MONTHS AND 3 WEEKS COUNTING

DEDICATION, FOCUS, HARD WORK, DISCIPLINED last but not the least SACRIFICE is what i was dealing with, results were showing, there was no possible chance of going back. I could never read books or do any thing that included reading. Today i find my self finishing the entire encyclopedia of Arnold Schwarzenegger, and most of the times i find my self reading and watching body building articles books and videos. Reading plays a very important part here because that is the knowledge u r sure of, which you have read and u have a point in it. Where as when u as someone a question about anything related to body building and weight training, everybody has different views which have worked for them and may not work for you. You don't want to be confused at this point so its a hear all and do one thing KIND OF A STRATEGY AND WAY OF LIFE.

My diet has been the most vital and important part of my beginning. For me it was like starting from scratch, like building an appetite which i lost due to smoking. I had already given up on aerated drinks cause that's like poison. All i did was converted every meal into the most healthiest meal. Now that was not at all easy for someone who ate only junk. As i said you cant be Arnold in one day, dieting same way started gradually. Take this in writing that google has everything one needs for everything. Same way i have read and read different diet plans and also tried making my own. You cannot keep it in your mind until u have followed it long enough to develop a relationship with it. I had written every single thing down. My mom just needed to be told how to do it and she just made it the best and the healthiest meal for me to eat. If it was not for her it would be impossible to gain even a pound of muscle. At the end of six months i had gained 8 to 10 pounds of lean muscle. There was not a single artificial supplement used in this process. Every thing depended on my diet, lifestyle, workout and MIND CONTROL.
Eventually at the end of six months i had gained enough strength to push my limits every week. When you do something with all your heart you always find your self interacting with people of the same interest. The more the people i met, automatically i started hearing more about bodybuilding, which gave me a new name and workout to search every single day.

6 MONTHS AND COUNTING

6 MONTHS AND COUNTING

The diet i followed for six months.
I gradually kept increasing my protein intake in order to make sure my body reacts well to it.
Monitoring your hunger will help you realise how much time exactly it takes for one meal to supply its nutrients to your body.
Antioxidants have played a major role in my weight loss and gain.

Breakfast:
5 egg whites
Hand full of oats
1 cucumber
One cup of green tea.

2 to 3 hours after breakfast:
50  to 80 grams of sweet potato
3 egg whites

Lunch:
2 chapattis
1 vegetable dish cooked in fever amount of olive oil
( spinach, lady fingers, sprouts, green peas, capsicum cabbage basically most of the green veggies.)
Around 60 grams of lean chicken breast grilled or cooked in Olive oil.
One cup of green tea.

By evening before 5pm:
3 egg whites and a bowl of curd.
(curd is because of the heavy protein diet,  it helps in cooling the heat inside created due to the heavy protein intake.)

Before Workout :
1 Apple
One cup of green tea.
A coffee shot.
(A coffee shot is strong espresso without milk and sugar . Caffeine gives u a energy boost, like a pre-workout but not a pre-workout.)

After Workout :
80 to 100 grams of chicken (grilled)
A small bowl of papaya
One cup of green tea.

Before sleeping:
3 egg whites.

THERE WERE NO CHEAT DAYS.
THE ONLY THING THAT KEPT INCREASING INCREDIBLY WAS MUSCLE SIZE, STRENGTH AND WATER INTAKE.
NO FRIED!! NO JUNK!! NO SUGARS!!
KEEP SIPPING WATER AFTER EVERY SET
I USED TO INTAKE MIN 6 TO 8 LITER'S OF WATER EVERYDAY.
EAT, BUT DON'T OVEREAT.

This is where i started, my diet was the most important part and will be the most important part. I miss everything i used to eat . I now eat everything but all in its time and i never worry about fat anymore, because i know how to burn it.

The Initial Struggle.

Whenever I looked at myself, I found something is definitely wrong. After a few consultations with the doctor, I found out that due to the fast burning of fat and dropping of pounds I'd developed dead skin around the lower level of my abdomen. Dead skin is basically that skin which when touched, gives a feel of baby skin and has no effect on the human body what so ever. The cells in the skin are basically dead and so they cannot be burnt by any exercise but the only way to get rid of it is to go for a Tummy Tuck . Its basically useless skin that is loose and has no control. It just hangs in there. This is usually seen when people who are very fat loose a lot of weight and at a very quick rate.It yet freaks me out to think of going under the knife. NOWAY!
Well life is not that good to be true but till date I have never ever let this thought hit my head never. Definitely it looks awful but then that's one possession I hold of my transformation. I think I'll leave that dead crap to time , because when it is right it will have its way out.
So, that is one obstacle. The other is trying to find out whats good to eat and what I should eat.I had million questions to ask the trainers around in the gym . I would wanna give credit to a few people for making me who I am today. I'd like to thank:

1: My parents & My brother
2: Salman Vakil - My best friends elder brother.
3: Prateek Kumar - My best friend.

Prateek and me
You can see the dead skin hanging on my lower abdomen.
Each of them have played a vital role in this transformation. My parents and my brother who always kept pushing me.
Salaman bhai who always dragged me to do kickboxing and physical training. If Salman bhai would not have coaxed me to train on his terrace with one of the most efficient MMA instructors Shafiq Sir, I probably would not have achieved what I have today . I loved sharing and talking to him about workouts, gym, eating habits etc. Salman bhai has always been a guide to me and stood by me through thick and thin.
Prateek Kumar has been the guidance to my bodybuilding. He has been doing body building for over 5 yrs now. The knowledge he has and the interest he shows is very motivating for me. In bodybuilding terms if Arnold's spotter was Franco, I would love spotting Prateek and vice versa. He has actually shown me the tricks of the trade. I call him the HULK for what I see him as.

That one day...

On April 5th 2011, I weighed 60 kilos. I looked like a disaster. In better words I felt life had sucked me and shrunk every muscle of my body. My parents were worried and perplexed as to what was going on. My father called me in his room to have a word with me regarding my health. He asked me what I had done to myself.

I just didn't have the guts to look at him in the eye and tell him anything because I myself had no idea as to what was happening. I knew I had shrunken and things didn't appear good on a healthy note. All my father asked was if if I had taken or been influenced by any drug. I could not blame him for this thought of his as it was evident that I looked pretty bad. My friends sarcastically used to comment saying that I had contracted aids. I remember that moment when I promised myself and my parents that I will be the change they wanted to see.

This is me weighing 60 kilos. Now you can imagine the seriousness of the situation when I said I looked as if life's sucked me in. On 11th April 2011 I woke up in the morning and out of no where made a promise or rather say I challenged  myself to become who I am today. That point I knew nothing of whats to be done and how it is to be done but I knew it had to be done.I was strong headed and hence hit the gym. I entered the gym and saw everybody beefed up and looking at me in the mirror giving me weird stares. My first reaction was ''HELL NO!"..
I had no idea as to what had to be done and where to start from but nevertheless I took the first baby step. My first day in the gym was quite interesting as I hardly did any weights but I spoke continuously to the trainers flooding them with questions about my diet plan and what kind of a workout should I start with. That was indeed the first step towards my change.
The problem I was facing was uncertainty of what I wanted. We all come across so many things we want but we cant have everything we want. From all the past experiences I knew one thing that knowledge is POWER and when u mix it with PASSION, you feel like you have been blessed with SUPERPOWER. Half knowledge is worse than ignorance and hence I had to know exactly what had to be done to overcome the obesity.

In the beginning.

The 107 Kilo.
This may look depressing to see, but this is what I was. I am not trying to cause any trouble to anyone who comes across this post but all I am trying to make people aware as to how I looked when I weighed 107 kilos. Its quite evident seeing the picture that my friends were happy about me having male breasts. In better words 'lump of FAT'. Its also quite evident it didn't look cool and all it was an ugly sight to watch. At this stage I joined many gyms but barely survived for a week. So basically my money went down the drain. I had an appetite of an elephant. If Mac Donald's, it would be 2 Mac Chicken, extra cheese, large fries and coke. Domino's would be 12 inch triple cheese burst and so on. Eating was the most beautiful part of my life back then only because I never bothered counting the calories or oil content.Just to let you know a poor man's daily calorie intake is 2100 calories a day but my 1 meal was more than that. Boss! Everybody has their ventures of being a foodie. Well as you can see I was doing fantastic at it,becoming a couch potato. At that moment, life was perfect to me as I could have thought of it. Ate what I wanted, how much I wanted, drank as much as I could until I lost my memory next morning, cigarettes, I was a chimney. The package that life offered me then was of low self esteem, low confidence and an easy go lucky mixture. Its like I had no goals, no confidence in getting anywhere in life. I am not really ashamed of saying this only because I have gone a long way with all my resources presently. No one ever told me to do anything about my weight. Whenever I saw a healthy muscular well built guy I'd be like "Fuck! I wish I cud be like him..." but that thought came only for an instant. There was no motto, no activity, no physical training, nothing that I ever did to burn this fat. I couldn't say that life had been unfair to me but then, life wasn't even going right. Being 107 kilos involved a lot of issues like acidity and gas. I would often get tired due to lack of stamina. One of the worst problems I faced was 'fitting in my clothes'. I hardly remember wearing t-shirts as I'd look hefty and inflated in it. I was very sporty when it came to taking jokes over my extra flab on the chest but somewhere within it didn't feel good. Its now that I realize that I had been accepting failure as it came but never did anything about it.

Time it all started.

In the month of March 2011, I realized that life's not heading the right way. Lost of 40 kilos from 107 kilos is kudos, when the loss starts to look good on you. In my case, it was opposite. I looked as skinny as a twig and as anorexic as a malnourished guy.Definitely it was not the right way of loosing weight. So what I basically did was  severely cut down my calorie intake and tried to burn the double of it. This created a very sudden change in my body system and within 365 days of intensive cardio and less calorie intake I lost 40 kilos as my metabolism rate increased and started resembling a drug addict.

18th March 2011
I am on the right side of this pic. My arm can easily be compared to any skinny girl's wrist and I'm sure there wouldn't be much of a difference. My face was sucked in by the Gods of suckers. Loosing weight is good, but this surely wasn't. I was not recognized by relatives and other family member's. My friends and their family thought I'm actually on drugs. When people questioned as to how I lost so much weight suddenly, my friends assumed it was "drugs". That was disturbing because within me I knew it wasn't drugs but people will speak what they see and I did look like an addict. My family started to worry about my health. Doctor's were surprised to see this drastic change. I knew things were not right within, something had to change. A change always happens from within, and it didn't take much time to change .
